Anastasia stepped carefully through the sand, watching out for pieces of glass or shells. It would not be a great time for her to get hurt, as she was the only one at the beach. The sand squished between her toes, causing her to grimance. They didn't go to the beach that often back home. It was a long drive to the coast. She bent over to examine something shiny on the ground and tripped over her own feet; falling onto the sand.

Daniel walked along the concrete that lead to the beach, he pulled his jacket tighter over his small body as he made his way there and felt a cool autumn breeze emit from the water's edge. Daniel shivered lightly and continued to walk. He leaned back on the metal rail that was at the edge of the sidewalk and beginning of the sand. Daniel watched a girl walk the beach, making sure she didn't step on a sharp object. He smiled and continued walking, Daniel was right behind the girl when she stumbled and fell. He tried not to laugh but did smile and hold out his hand to her.
"Let me help you up," he said, his hand outstretched.

Anastasia fell with a humph onto the ground and twisted in the squishy sand. This was utterly disgusting. Then a hand and a kind voice interrupted her thoughts. She looked up and smiled embarassedly at him. She grabbed onto his hand, and used it to pull herself up. "Thanks. I'm a bit of a clutz." Ana stuttered out with a smile.

Daniel smiled and took her hand in his, pulling her up as she did the same. He let go and bit down on his lip, nodding. He dusted his hands off on his jeans for no apparent reason, and shoved his hands into his pockets, his brown hair flying off of his face in the wind. Daniel looked at the girl, while sucking on his teeth.
"It's no problem, I'm usually out here, helping people up, you know.. the ones that slip on the sand and such," he said, laughing slightly. "I'm Daniel, and you are..?" he asked, adding in a cunning smile.

Anastasia blushed heatedly and ducked her head. She pretended to be fixing her jacket's button as she calmed herself down. She looked up at him, just in time to catch his smile. A small laugh escaped her lips and she smiled back at him. "With me around that could prove to be a full time job,' Ana cracked, forgeting temporarily about the nasty sand all over her jeans. "I'm Anastasia. But you can call me Ana. It's nice to meet you Daniel."

Daniel nodded, "I wouldn't mind filling out an application," he said, laughing softly. He quieted just in time to catch her name. Anastasia. Wow. Unique name. "That's a pretty name, I will do just that- I will call you Ana," he said, smiling. Daniel rocked on his heels, glad that he was still wearing shoes and not barefoot on this mushy sand. He raised his eyebrows and looked at Anastasia up and down.
"Wow, how about we get you cleaned up, little miss?" he asked, smiling, still.

Ana smiled, giggling softly under her breath. "Thanks. My parents had a knack for odd names. My brother's name is Alexis- don't ask." She grinned, knowing her brother hated that name and insisted he was called Alex. Her blue eyes followed his gaze to her pants and blushed again. "Wow, I didn't notice I got so dirty. It's rather disgusting actually." She made to brush off her pants using her hands, just getting them sticky. She kept glancing up to make sure he was still there and the kind stranger on the beach wasn't in her imagination.

"Want me to help?" he asked, squatting down and wiping off the bottoms of her jeans, trying not to mush it in to her pants so that it would look dirty or stain. He continuously looked up at Ana and smiled at he as he did. Daniel focused on his work and soon her pants were back to normal. He stood up and looked her in the eyes, realizing that he was rather close to her face.
"That's better," he said, smiling. Daniel blinked and scooted away, half embarrassed, "Sorry, I mean.. I didnt.. uhm.." he said, laughing nervously.

Ana nodded her head and accompanied by his warm smile and handy hands, she was cleaned off quickly. She tucked her hands in her back jeans pockets and smiled shyly at him. "Yeah thanks." It was then she realized how close he was and took a stumbled step backwards. His nervous laughter was joined by her own and when it got quiet again she blushed softly. "yeah...it's..fine...thanks..again..."

Daniel fumbled with his hands and put them inside his jacket, then in his pockets and then in his back pockets. He stared at his feet and felt his face get hot, "Uhm, so.." he said trailing off, "Do you want to.. er.. walk?" he asked, stumbling over his words. He bit down on his lip and looked back up at her, raising his eyebrows and then shortly after breaking out into a large smile.

She looked up from gazing at the mushy sand and giggled at his fidgeting hands. "Yeah...a walk would be good." She smiled up at him, her eyes flashing back to his face. She turned and smushed her toes in the yucky sand. She wasn't sure what she was thinking or feeling right now; it was too confusing. And she was too clumzy to be able to focus on her thoughts and where she was walking.

"Alright," Daniel said contently as his feet sunk in the sand occasionally, getting sand on his black converse. He continued to walk, the silence between them wasn't an awkward one anymore, but a good one. It was soothing. He turned to face her, catching her eyes in a gaze, and started to blush again. He looked away, embarrassed and laughed lightly before looking back at her. Daniel stopped and bit down on his lip, just looking at Ana and trying not to laugh. She would probably think he was weird or a freak or something for stopping at the middle of the beach, just looking at her.

Ana smiled, soaking in the silence and the sound of the waves coming from the shore. It was so peaceful. Maybe she could learn to like the beach- if they got rid of the sand that is. She kept her gaze focused on where she was walking, intent on not tripping again. Out of the corner of her eye she could still see Daniel's face however and it made the smile on her face grow bigger. But then he was gone from her view, and she stopped to turn and see where he went. When she spotted him again, he was standing there; just staring at her with a smile on his face. She brought her hands up to her face, checking for anything that could be there. "What? Is there something on my face?" She asked embarrassedly.

Daniel smiled and almost laughed, "Now tell me why every girl has that reaction," he said- or asked. He continued to walk, but stopped and turned back around, facing her. He was directly in front of Ana. "No, there is nothing on your face," he said, smiling. Daniel looked out at the water, his eyes were starting to glaze and his contacts were aching. He raised his eyebrows and started to laugh gently, shaking his head.

Ana dropped her hands frantically. "Well I..I can be...I get...embarrassed easily...wasn't..sure" The stuttering had made it's appearance, and right on time. She let out a sigh and stopped trying to explain herself; it was coming out miserably anyways. She ducked her head and continued to walk along the beach and came to a halt when he stopped in front of her. She looked meekly up at him and gave him a half-smile. She still wouldn't trust herself to try and talk again.
