Lucy sighed. She wished she had never bothered him, because now she was just upset about the whole thing. She knew that she would get over this conversation, but there was something about it that kept buzzing at her brain. Like an annoying little bee that wouldn't go away. Lucy looked at Luke who was running his hands through his wet hair.
"Like I said, Lucas, I can't stop you from doing anything. It's your life, just don't screw up mine," she said laying down on the fountain and staring at the water, running her fingers through it. She was going to tear up. Lucy didn't want Aiden to get hurt because of a past relationship. If Lucy wanted someone to get beat up, she just had to tell Devin. He was her brother, after all.

"Whatever you say Luce." He said, his eyes closed tight. This was worse than he thought. He had hoped maybe if he waited long enough before talking to her, all the feelings would be gone. He would never think of her like that again, and be happy when she moved on. Of course, it wasn't meant to happen that way.
"Lucy, you do what you want. Go be with what's his name. I really shouldn't care anymore, right? I'm a part of the past now." He said, standing up slowly. "Do you want me to go? Just say the word, and I won't say a word to you again if that's what you want." He was fighting back the burning in his eyes. It was hard to think about never talking to her again. They made a great pair. Always had fun, but if it was what she wanted, he wouldn't hesitate to do it.

Lucy stood and up and walked up to Lucas. She did something that was very unexpected. She wrapped her arms around his stomach, and pulled him into a hug, laying her head on his firm chest and listening to his breathing. Lucy swallowed hard and started to wet his shirt with tears. She bit down on her lip, and pulled away, looking up into his face. Lucy brought a hand up to his cheek and stroked it gentle with her fingers. She looked into his eyes, her own teary and sad.
"Lucas, you will never be just a part of my past, you will always be a part of my present, I haven't stopped loving you completely. I don't want you to go, I want you to stay right here. You and Aiden.. I mean, why does it have to be like this, Luke?" she said, biting on her lip, tears slowly streaking her face. She shook her head and leaned back in, resting her head on his heaving chest.

Lucas closed his eyes hard, but the site of her crying was not easily burned from his memory. "I'm sorry Luce." He said, unwillingly wrapping his arms around her and holding her against him. It was hard not to cry. But, he stopped himself anyways. He couldn't be weak. Not in front of anyone. He was stronger than that.
"It'll be okay. I just lost it a little. I'm happy that you found someone. I really am. I just don't want you getting hurt. Please, if you need anything, promise me you'll let me know." He said, swallowing hard to try and remove the lump in his throat.

"I will, Luke, I just want it to be normal between us. I mean- we aren't a couple anymore. We're just friends, but that doesn't mean that we cant stop living," she said, looking up at him, after she said it. Lucy squeezed him gently and walked back over to the fountain. She patted the cement, as she sat down, insinuating for him to do the same.
Lucy looked up at him, her head tilted at a slant and her face tear stained. Her make up was runny now and eyeliner streaked her pale face. She sighed and looked down at her feet.

Lucas shook his head as he sat down next to her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "No, we're not. But, we still make a hell of a team." He said, forcing a laugh. He at least had to pretend to be happy. If nothing more than for her benefit. He reached up carefully though, running a slightly rough finger under her eye, wiping away the tear streaks and trying to help. "Friends 'til the end."

Lucy bit down on her lower lip but didn't smile. She continued to stare at her feet, until Lucas almost forced her to elevate her neck as he wiped away tears. She looked into his eyes, her own still sad.
"I would very much like that," she said, laying her head on his chest, and bowing her head once again, staring at her feet that were now being sprinkled with random drops of water from the fountain.

"Good, so would I." He said, smiling what he hoped was happily. He just hoped Aiden wasn't an ass. He knew somehow that if Aiden told her to never talk to him again, he wouldn't see her. He just hoped it never came to that. But, he wouldn't put it past it being a possibility. "So, other than that fact he's cute, what else do you know about this Aiden kid?"

Lucy licked her lips. The question that she didn't want him to realize. She bit down on her bottom lip and stared down at his thigh which was nestled below her back. She looked back up at him to find that he was looking down at her. That's what it always felt like in other terms- she was being looked down on. She sighed a long sigh. It wasn't a content one, neither.
"Why does that matter? I didn't know a lot about you when we started dating, but we got along just fine. Did we not?" she asked, but didn't have the patience to wait for an answer. Lucy swallowed hard, "Well," she said, "He had an abusive dad and was born in California. His parents split up, then his mother died; He is adopted by his aunt and uncle," she said, knowingly, "And he loves to play guitar, bass preferably."

Lucas watched Lucy, shrugging slightly at her question. "Why shouldn't it matter. I'm a curious person. Granted it tends to get me in trouble, but most of the time I just can't help myself." He said, grinning slightly. "But, hey, that's not always a bad thing. My curiosity is what got me to check you out." He tucked one leg under the other, trying to get comfortable.

Lucy pulled herself up and off of his chest and lap and twirled around on the concrete so her feet were in front of her now. She turned to face Lucas and shrugged, "Well, I don't know. I mean- checking me out obviously wasn't a good thing or we wouldn't be having these problems- jealousy, anger, more jealousy," she said, giggling a small bit, but covering it up with a straight face as she stared down at her jeans.

Lucas looked at her oddly. "Jealous? Who the hell is jealous?" He asked, his eyes narrowing dangerously. She was right about something; someone there was angry. And it didn't look like she was. Lucas Murray does not get jealous. Of anyone. Ever. "You think I'd be jealous of some guy you have a crush on? Please. I just thought as your friend I should want to look out for you. Shows what the hell I know, right? I guess maybe we shouln't talk anymore if everytime it keeps ending in a fight like this."

Lucy stood up and pulled up the sleeve of her jacket. On her wrist was a very important bracelet that Luke had gotten her on their two year anniversary. She broke it and pulled it off quickly, sending diamonds flying all over. She threw it at Lucas, watching it land on his waist, in his lap. Tears streaked her face, although they were only light ones. She shook her head and shot him an angry glance.
"That's what I remember now. The reason that I was glad that we were over. Because of your fu.cking anger problems, Luke. You are always right. You get what you want. You are Mr. Bigheaded because you are the star of the basketball team, oh, and you you are just so gorgeous that girls are hopping all over you. I don't thinks so. The Lucas I knew was better and he had feelings other than just anger," she said, and started to walk away, her face buried in her hands as she sobbed.

Lucas sat there, uncaring when she threw the bracelet at him. It had no value to him anymore if she didn't want it. But, it hurt what she said. If he wasn't so angry, he thought he might have been broken by it. But, his anger made a shield around him that kept anything she or anyone said from hurting him.
But, when she got up, he realized he wasn't done yet. He quickly jumped up, his hand flashing out for her wrist. "Wait a second. You just said some serious crap and then walk away? I don't think so. You know me better than this Lucy!" He said, using her real name rather than his preffered nickname for her. "This is complete bull crap. Acting like I don't care. And, hell, I don't always get what I want." He dropped his gaze, looking away, and letting go of her hand. "But, that doesn't matter what I wanted. Just go if you want. I'm done with all this crap." He walked over tot eh fountain, kneeling on it and running his fingers across the surface, not feeling the water against his touch.

Lucy turned sharply when Luke grabbed her arm. She looked at him, her face was red and hot from the tears and anger towards him. He was still acting like he didn't care. She bit down on her lip and sucked on her teeth. No matter how hard she tried, she would never stop loving him, even when he was being a jack-butt. Lucy threw her hands up in the air, and walked over to the fountain. She sat down, not by Lucas, but a few feet away from him.
She turned to look at him, "Do you have something to say? What?" she asked, angrily, but still in her usual soft tone.
